Aquaporin-5 trafficking in salivary glands

research2

Current saliva secretion model implies   aquaporin-5 (AQP5) trafficking from intracellular vesicles to the plasma membrane. Identification of the phosphorylated amino acid and protein binding partners of AQP5 involved in AQP5 trafficking is necessary to better understand the role of AQP5 under physiological and pathophysiological conditions (e.g. Sjögren’s syndrome).
